WebPOD™ is the fundamental product in Roambox's
cross-platform product line. Its kernel is the service that allows
the software designed for the handset's J2ME platform
to run over the web platform by emulation technology. China holds
the largest downloadable JAVA games market. Currently, mobile gaming
is still at its early stage. Many middle- and small-sized content
providers and developers crowd into this market, requesting more
effective promotion method for game contents. Due to the limitation
of handsets, currently, mobile game promotion is mainly performed
through WEB. The procedure is that users firstly read game introductions,
view game pictures and then download the games of interests to their
handsets. For terminal users, it is difficult to have straightforward
views of games if only provided with game introductions, which may
deter the increase of game downloads. To tackle this problem, WebPOD™
provides J2ME downloadable products of content providers (especially,
J2ME games) with a preview service based on Web browsers, which
can eliminate users' worries ahead of downloading and
result in the increase of downloads.
In addition to the emulation of all J2ME functions, WebPOD™
offers customized support for all types of mainstream handsets in
accordance with their different extended APIs, so it can perfectly
simulate the running environments for J2ME applications in different
handsets. At web browser side, terminal users can smoothly try emulated
mobile games without installing any software or plug-in.
